Year 11 students have recently commenced their Unit 3 studies and moved from the formative assessment of Unit 1 and 2 into the summative phase of their course. Year 11 Unit 2 reports were also issued this week, with the results providing feedback to parents, students and staff about how approaches to Year 11 can be modified to ensure the best chance of improvement over the next 12 months. It is also important to note that all Year 11 Unit 1 and 2 results are formative and do not contribute to a student’s ATAR. As such, results for these assessment instruments should be viewed as evidence of the effectiveness of the study habits and preparation for assignments that were adopted in Year 11. These results may well reveal that a change in study habits is necessary, particularly for subjects that have external examinations in Units 3 and 4 and contribute 50 per cent to students' final result (i.e. Maths and Science).
