Primary Cross Country Carnival
We have enjoyed a very busy fortnight in Primary, with the P&F running its first (and very successful) sausage sizzle at the Primary Cross Country Carnival. The P&F would like to thank everyone involved–including the team of sausage–cooking champions for their efforts before the event and on the day. After some great running, we saw lots of happy little faces at the Carnival enjoying their sausage and drink! We hope to repeat this fantastic initiative (with a few tweaks) for the Primary Sports Carnival next term–keep your eyes peeled for updates!
Mother's Day Stall
We held the annual Mother's Day Stall yesterday, with a focus on supplying locally sourced and sustainable gifts. A huge thank you to the whole CHAC Community for getting behind this year's event. The children were so adorable and took such care and pride in shopping for their Mums and Grandmums-we loved seeing their smiling faces and had such fun serving them!
A special thanks to the amazing businesses and talented CHAC families who provided gifts for this year's stall. Thank you to Ruby Olive, Miss Polish and Co, Howe Elegant Jewellery, Cocoavera, Karen Baeumer, Helen Joy Butler, Olivia Beauont and Kathy Luther.
And thanks to every single person who volunteered their time and helped on the organising committee–it was a huge team effort with so many ideas for Father's Day already flowing!
Finally, we wish all the CHAC Mums a wonderful relaxing Mother's Day.
The Primary Village Program
The Primary Village Program is hitting its stride in Term Two with multiple social events planned in each year level. These events include park playdates, movie sessions, drinks nights, art classes and coffee mornings to name a few. Please make sure you have subscribed to your class in the CHAC Parent App to receive notifications from your year rep, and while you are using the App, please subscribe to the P&F as well!
The Woolworths Earn and Learn promotion has commenced for 2019 and CHAC has again registered to take part. Collect stickers when you shop at Woolworths, collate them on sticker sheets–which are downloadable or available in-store–and drop them into Primary or Secondary Student Reception. Stickers are exchanged for points, which are redeemable on thousands of educational resources for our College through Modern Teaching Aids Australia. In 2017, CHAC collected nearly 18,000 stickers–we are hoping to smash that tally this year, so make sure you ask for your stickers when you shop.
Active School Travel
Each Friday during the term is our Active School Travel Day where we encourage as many students as possible to walk, ride, scooter, take public transport or carpool to get to school. As part of the Active School Travel Program, we would like to support the families who need to drive to school. Carpooling is one way to be more sustainable. Another is Park and Stride where parents are encouraged to park the car away from the College and walk for the remainder of the journey. Our first Park and Stride event will be on 17 May, which is also National Walk Safely to School Day (WSTSD). There will be two locations for parents and students to meet, and anyone can join the group- please refer to the travel map. We are inviting volunteers to meet people at designated locations and walk with them on their journey to school.
Primary Sub-Committee meeting
The next Primary Sub-Committee meeting will be held on Monday 13 May from 6.30pm in the Primary Staffroom–all primary parents and friends are welcome to attend. During the meeting, we will review the previous month's events and discuss the progress of upcoming events. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with any suggestions or queries.
