CHAC was well represented in the recent Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Art, with a number of students receiving awards or being selected to enter the prestigious competition. Open to all secondary schools state-wide, the awards are the highest recognition a visual art student can receive and recipients have the honour of exhibiting their artwork at a major travelling exhibition, which includes a showing at GOMA the following year.
Year 12 student Sophie Baird received one of only 13 Excellence Awards presented at the Metropolitan Regional event and is one of 33 students chosen from across Queensland to exhibit at GOMA in 2020.
Lars Forsingdal received the 2019 Regional Encouragement Award– the only one awarded at the event.
Congratulations must also go to Emily van Wyk and Izaak Taylor for having their work chosen for entry in the competition; only work of the highest calibre can be nominated for this regional exhibition, and they should be proud of this achievement.
