Term 3 Performance Music wrap-up

Term 3 Performance Music wrap-up

Author: Geoff Govier
Author Role: Director of Performance Music

Term 3 has been buzzing with energy in the Performance Music Department. The annual CHAC Eisteddfod proved as popular as ever with over 260 entries. All students are awarded a merit, silver or gold certificate. The winner of each section is awared a medal. We had exceptional adjudicators passing on valuable feedback to our students. Although this is a competition, the support displayed by parents and students in each section was the true highlight of the event.

Queensland Clarinet and Saxophone Society (QCASS) State championships

The Ebony and Saxophone Ensemble competed at the Queensland Clarinet and Saxophone Society (QCASS) State championships. CHAC competed in the 17 years and under section against some fierce opposition including Brisband State High School, Sheldon High School, and Mansfield High School. Ebony walked away with first place, while the Saxophone Ensemble came in second. This is an outstanding achievement for our talented reed students.

What a term!

Many of our ensembles have been out and about representing CHAC at community events this term. Our Jazz Ensemble recently entertained locals at Music by the Bay, an annual event hosted by the Manly Council, while our Flute Ensemble performed at the annual St Paul's Fete. The newly formed rock band, known as Iridescent Adolescence, thrilled students at the 40 hour famine sleepover. Iridescent Adolescence will also be competing at the Battle of the Rock Bands held at Clairvaux McKillop on the last Friday evening of Term 3. We wish them the best of luck.

Congratulations to all our talented musicians who performed and represented CHAC proudly in Term 3.
