Last week, team 12.1 (Jacques Dennison, Sierra Mossman, Chris O'Brien and Will Ewart) triumphed over Brisbane State High School's team 12.2 in the first round of the QDU Secondary Competition. The topic for the evening was that we regret streaming services, e.g. Netflix and Stan, and CHAC's team confidently argued the negative side of the topic.
On Wednesday, CHAC’s Year 8 teams competed in their first round of the competition and tackled the topic that we should ban animal experimentation. Ms Katherine Hart's team 8.1 (Charlotte Theil, Luke Sivyer, Audrey Davidson, Lucy Farrell) took home a win arguing the affirmative side of the topic against Capalaba State College team 8.1. Ms Gabrielle Venables' team 8.2 (Zoe Billings, Dani Weizman, Zoe Everett, Sarah Leonard) suffered a narrow loss arguing the negative side of the topic against Lourdes Hill College team 8.2.
Next week, Ms Hassall's team 11.1 (Rebecca Donnan, Emma Cooney, Anna Coldham-Fussell, Chrisel Myburgh) will tackle the second-round topic that we should ban private space exploration.
