During the first week of Term 3, CHAC Primary will raise awareness of our Indigenous community by acknowledging NAIDOC Week. A spokesperson from the community will address the students at Assembly. We will also be raising money by selling a range of hair ribbons in the colours of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags, ribbon pins, and bookmarks. These ideas are the incentive of Isabelle Evans, a Year 4 student who wanted to make a difference in the lives of others.
Isabelle was inspired to help others after hearing about the difference in the living standards of others during HaSS. She turned her thoughts into actions and come up with a proposal on how to assist others in her own country in a practical way by raising money during NAIDOC Week. A working bee with the Primary Social Justice Committee assisted Isabelle on her journey of servant leadership. The merchandise will be available for sale on Friday, 16 July 2021.
Merchandise prices are below, and all proceeds will go to Yulu-Burri-Ba.
