Visit to Parliament House
On 18 September both Robert Nettleton (Vice President) and I had the privilege of attending Parliament House with Minister Grace Grace, along with other parent representatives from schools in the Bulimba electorate. There was much discussion on a range of topics and a common thread was on how to entice more volunteers given the faster pace of society and “time poor” parents. I must say that we have been very lucky at CHAC with some wonderful parent support. It was great to network with other parent bodies and gain insight into how their P&Fs work. A thank you to Di Farmer for hosting this event. The tour of Parliament House afterwards was a great highlight for me- it was great to see the history of Brisbane politics/government over the years. We were allowed a few photos in these spaces.
Volunteer thank you evening- Monday 14 October
Our final P&F Meeting for 2019 will be held this Monday at 6pm in the Research Centre (Library). This will be followed by a wine and cheese networking and thank you event for all parents and friends who have given their time to the CHAC community. We hope that you can join us.
Wetlands Festival 2020
We had our first Wetlands Festival Information Evening on Wednesday night. Thank you to those who came along and shared their new ideas with the committee.
We have many positions to fill. If you missed the meeting and want to know more about how you can help out, even if in a small way, please contact the convenors.
Information on the Wetlands logo competition will be shared with everyone soon- keep your eyes out for details.
CHAC values our school community and the many businesses that support us. If you or someone you know may be interested in a business sponsorship for the Wetlands Festival, please email the convenor to find a sponsorship package to suit you.
