During the huge three-week winter school holidays, students at CHAC Vacation Care enjoyed some amazing, fun, creative and educational experiences. Students got to try their hand at ice skating and bounce excursions as well as some terrific incursions, including the Giant Inflatable Hungry Hippo and Obstacle course, Parrots at the Park, Deadly Australians and drone coding with Super Cody. We ran a number of wonderful community fundraiser and awareness days including- the Great CHAC Book Exchange, which raised money for Indigenous literacy. Guide Dogs QLD brought a puppy-in-training into the centre; we are sponsoring the 'Z' litter training puppies, and it was great to hear how these puppies are progressing in their training. The Australian Federal Police also visited us and brought in a detection dog to educate the children on the important work they do in keeping our community safe.
We also enjoyed other fun-filled days such as Camp Rock Day, Cane’s Arcade Challenge, Geocaching Treasure Hunt Swap, Cookies in a Jar and Lego Masters. During the Student Free Day, the children made their own kites and had lots of fun flying them in the winter sun!
