Year 10: Welcome to Senior Secondary

The Year 10s are looking resplendent in their Senior Secondary uniforms and I would like to wish all a very warm welcome to Senior Secondary. The very first unit in CHAC Comm this year is the Careers unit. Please be sure to ask your students in the coming weeks about the CHAC Careers website.

Year 11: Wellington Point Excursion

A new initiative this year was to take the Year 11s on an excursion on the very first day of the year. This event was facilitated by Character Builders and the chosen activities highlighted the importance of teamwork and inclusion. After the burst of frenetic energy needed for the initial ‘Bootcamp’, we all trekked over from Wellington Point to Mud Island. We crossed at high tide and needed to work in teams using ropes to ensure all were safe and able to enjoy the cool water on a very hot day. The students then sorted and cooked lunch, and the day ended with reflections about the strengths of the cohort and each other. It was a fantastic way to start the year, and the students participated with great enthusiasm. Information regarding the Year 11 camp to be held Week 1, Term 2 will be sent out in the coming weeks.

Year 12: Launching into their final year

The Year 12s were most helpful and enthusiastic during this first week. They have no time to ‘ease’ their way back into school life as the first Block Exam week is fast approaching – Week 4. The Leadership team have definitely hit the ground running, and we are looking forward to a number of initiatives that have already been planned. It is an exciting and challenging year and they have been equipped for what lies ahead.

Information Evenings

I would encourage all parents (and students if they wish) to attend the Parent Information Evenings. Even if you've had students complete the senior years previously, it is important that you have an understanding of the new ATAR system. If you would like any questions addressed on the evening, please forward your questions to me via email.

Wishing you all a wonderful 2020.
