yLead Altitude Day Conference
Last Wednesday (29 May), 13 of our Year 9 leaders attended the yLead Altitude Day conference at City Hall. During the conference, students met with other young leaders from around Brisbane and spent time reflecting on ways to unlock their own potential and positively impact those around them. Speakers included Yasmin Grigaliunas, Ben Pettingill and Rowie McEvoy- all inspirational leaders who overcame obstacles and developed resilience on their journey to making a difference in the world.
“From this day, I have gained a stronger sense of passion for leadership and an appreciation for teamwork and never giving up. Along the way, I was also fortunate enough to meet a group of students from a variety of different schools, who, by the end of the day, had become my friends. The yLead day is an experience I will never forget, and I am very grateful for the opportunity.” Jasmine Balfour, Year 9
Junior Secondary Dance
The Junior Secondary Dance was held last Friday (31 May) with more than 220 students attending the Flashback Friday 80s themed dance. It was great to see so many students dress-up and enjoy dancing and socialising.
The music was expertly handled by our Year 12 DJs; The Year 12 Mentors and Year 9 Junior Secondary Representatives are to be congratulated for putting together a fantastic atmosphere in both the ‘chill out’ zone and ‘photo booth’ in the Foyer, as well as the competitions and dance floor inside the Auditorium.
All proceeds from the dance will go to the Royal Flying Doctors Service as part of the upcoming Outback Tour, and all students are thanked for contributing to this much-needed service. In order to boost our fundraising efforts, all leftover drinks, chips and lollies from the evening will be sold during a Flashback Friday lunchtime stall in the near future.
