Junior Secondary Dance
We are fast approaching the Junior Secondary event of the year–Flashback Friday, our 80s themed dance. Students are encouraged to get creative and come in 80s attire, but normal casual or dancewear is also appropriate. Students will need to be dropped off at the Auditorium Foyer at 6.30pm and parents will need to collect them from this venue at 9pm.
We encourage all students to consider attending this function. The Junior Secondary Mentors and Year 9 Representatives have spent a lot of time organising the dance, and this will be a fantastic opportunity to socialise, dance, and spend some quality time with their peers in a supervised environment. Tickets can be purchased via trybooking and we encourage students to purchase as soon as possible to assist with catering.
Year 7 2020 Parent Information Evening
Last night, we held the annual information evening for parents of our Year 6 students. Our parent community heard about student life in the Secondary College and our Primary to Secondary transition processes. This was an informal evening where information was shared and common questions were raised. I would like to thank all parents who attended the evening and encourage those who were not able to attend to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any further questions about the Secondary College. We look forward to supporting your child in their transition to Year 7 over the coming months.
A big thank you to all the staff and students who were involved in the recent NAPLAN tests. Students were well prepared with their correct equipment and participated with a positive attitude and approach to the testing.
The next few weeks of the term bring another busy assessment period. Students are encouraged to draw from this testing experience and prepare themselves for upcoming assessment and examinations with the same level of confidence and preparation. Students should be keeping up-to-date with their assessment calendar and other draft due dates, including study and assignment preparation as part of their regular homework.
Temporary Special Provisions
There has been a recent increase in the number of students requesting extensions due to illness and temporary injuries. Please refer to the Assignment Policy in the Diary for the correct procedures regarding extensions. I encourage students to be communicating with teachers well in advance if there is a possibility that they might need extra support or time for assessment.
If students have a temporary injury and are unable to complete some or all of their assessment, we have procedures for putting in place additional support. Please contact me if you would like to discuss these options for your child for the upcoming assessment period.
