On Saturday August 18, Year 9 French student Paige Smith represented CHAC in a poetry competition run by the Alliance Francaise. Paige learnt a beautiful poem called O Ma Terre Natale written by Moroccan poet Barraha-el-Houssine. This is a complex and advanced poem which Paige recited off by heart with passion and outstanding pronunciation, so much so, that the judges of the competition asked Paige if her parents were native French speakers! It is no surprise therefore, that Paige was awarded the Highly Commended prize for her performance. This is an excellent result and the French department was incredibly proud of her efforts and the way in which she represented the College. Congratulations Paige!
