Last month, the Environment Committee here at CHAC implemented an RSPCA collection event which was aimed at helping support the care of homeless pets in South East Queensland while waiting in the shelter at Wacol for their new homes.
CHAC’s involvement with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) allowed students to be involved with the wider community and participate in a service activity. This collection replaced the Environment Committee’s traditional RSPCA Bake Sale, which was unfortunately cancelled due to COVID-19 this year. Despite this, the collection, which requested items from pet toys to egg cartons to dog beds, was very successful, with over four extra-large packing boxes being filled as a result of the generosity of the College community.
We would like to thank the students, parents and community members who brought items to donate and for embracing this new approach to fundraising. The Environment Committee is beyond grateful for your help to allow us to continue to support the RSPCA to give the best possible care to homeless animals.
