In August during Science Week, students who chose to enter this online competition were tested on their science skills across all disciplines of Science. They were able to log into the competition at any time during Science Week and answer questions to gain points. As they reached certain thresholds, they earned certificates.
Schools from 21 countries entered the competition. The competition comprised questions which tested science skills including Science Understanding, Science Investigation, Science as a Human Endeavour – all in authentic contexts. In our category of 501 to 1000 students, CHAC students were placed 5th in Queensland out of 50 schools, and 49th in Australia out of 283 schools.
Top scorer at CHAC was Caelan Forsingdal (Year 11) who won an Emerald Award. He answered 8,090 questions during this competition earning 5,007 points. This placed him in the top 1% of all competitors, outperforming 89,100 other students.
