CHAC is proud to once again host the Brisbane Basket Brigade (BBB) this December, with our Campus being utilised to coordinate their annual Christmas drive.
BBB is a non-profit organisation that works with other local organisations to deliver food and gifts to disadvantaged families and the homeless at Christmas. In 2018, their goal is to deliver over 1000 baskets to those in need. Hundreds of volunteers assist with this effort, helping to buy food, wrap gifts, pack baskets and deliver these baskets to nominated families throughout Brisbane.
This year, we’d love to show BBB how wonderful the CHAC community is at offering support to such worthwhile causes. There’s lots of ways to get involved leading up to, or on the day of the main event itself:
- Donate Toiletry Care Pack items
BBB will extend its reach to support Regional Queenslanders affected by the drought, and seeks the donation of 100 of these Toiletry Care Packs. The packs will be added to existing baskets and delivered to families in the Western Downs and Maranoa region. If you would like to support this activity and donate a pack, please drop them to either Primary or Senior Secondary Reception by Friday 9 November. Alternatively, you can drop them off to the BBB packing day at the Tuggerah Centre, between 9am and 4pm on Saturday 8 December.
- Volunteer on Packing Day - Sunday, December 9
BBB seeks volunteers to help wrap Christmas gifts, pack food and deliver baskets to nominated families throughout Brisbane. CHAC’s Tuggerah Centre is the hub of this year’s Packing Day, and will come alive with wrapping, fun and entertainment galore on Sunday 9 December. Deliveries will also leave from CHAC, and both of these activities are fantastic opportunities to get your children involved and teach them the value of helping others less fortunate. There are a number of volunteer opportunities available on Packing Day. Registration will open in early November. Please subscribe to the BBB newsletter or like them on Facebook to keep updated.
We look forward to working with the BBB Committee this year, and to helping assist those less fortunate this Christmas.
