On Sunday afternoon, a happy and noisy bunch of people and animals gathered in the spirit of St Francis to thank God for our furry and feathered friends. There were dogs big and small, a couple of cute cats, some guinea pigs, and a pair of the most adorable ducks you've ever seen. We praised God for the love that we share with our pets, and we prayed for wisdom and understanding in the way in which we care for all of God's creation. I look forward to this becoming a regular part of the CHAC calendar!
Blessed are you, Lord God, maker of all living creatures
You called forth fish in the sea, birds in the air and animals on the land.
You inspired St Francis to call all of them his brothers and sisters.
We ask you to bless these pets and those who love and care for them.
By the power of your love enable us always to give you thanks for all creation
and so live to honour your holy name through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
