The 2018 Social Justice Committee is excited to announce that this year's 40 Hour Famine is back and bigger than ever! As you may remember last years Back Pack Challenge was a huge success with the CHAC team raising over $8000 and we plan to continue this movement.
On 23 May the committee made our way to the Chandler Theatre for the World Vision Youth Conference. Here we were spent the day participating in simulations and hearing the confronting but inspiring stories of multiple refugees. The Committee took much away from the day but we were most shocked to learn that there are over 65 million refugees seeking asylum. Majority of these displaced persons have been forced to flee their homes and even countries, packing what they can fit of their entire lives into a back pack.
This year the Back Pack Challenge is returning to CHAC, giving students the opportunity to express support for these refugees by living out of their own back pack for forty hours. Additionally, the Primary School are invited to participate in the challenge but for a shorted period of 8 hours. The Challenge will take place from the 17 to 19 August and we encourage all students to join the CHAC team.
By following the link below students can create a profile and attach themselves to the Cannon Hill Anglican College team. Get together with friends, siblings or your pet and by participating in this year's Back Pack Challenge you too can raise funds to support this global crisis. Are you with us?
To get event more involved, we are also holding a Sleep Over on Friday 17 August at the College; however, parent permission is required. Please click here to download and complete the form.
