Music Theory

Music Theory Classes are offered at CHAC for students in Years 4 to 12. Small group lessons are held after school, and cover general music knowledge. View the Music Theory Enrolment Contract.

Lessons are offered with the aim of students sitting an Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) theory exam at the August exam session held in Brisbane. Lessons will cease after the exam is completed, with the next grade commencing the following year.

Music Theory is charged at a rate of $350 (for Grades 1 to 3) and $460 (Grades 4 to 6). Included in the fee is the appropriate Theory Workbook and Manuscript book. Exam enrolment costs are not included in lesson fees. Appropriate information will be forwarded closer to the exam. (as a guide 2017 Exam fees were Grade 1 = $69; Grade 2 = $73; Grade 3 = $75; Grade 4 = $80; Grade 5 = $85). Enrolment in Music Theory classes constitutes a commitment to attend all scheduled classes. No refund will be granted if students do not complete the full block or are unable to attend a lesson.
